ACES 1.3 with OCIO version control question

Hello all,
I’m developing a workflow for using ACES and OCIO, primarily with Maya 2023, Substance Painter 8.3, and Nuke 14. Maya 2023’s OCIO API version is 2.0, Nuke’s is 2.1, and Painter’s is 2.x (waiting to hear back from Adobe for the specific version). I want to maintain consistency in my workflow, so I’m planning on using a 2.0 config for Nuke and Painter to match Maya (since it is the lowest version) so that I have consistent OCIO versioning. However, I’m wondering if this is even necessary, because 2.0 and 2.1 are both ACES 1.3 despite being different OCIO versions. Is there any advantage to or difference with maintaining consistent OCIO 2 versions, or will it make no difference if I move between 2.0 and 2.1 since it is Aces 1.3 regardless?

Thanks!

Hi @conlen,

The main difference between the two version is the presence of the * * ACES 1.3 Reference Gamut Compression* in the 2.1 version of the config.

Cheers,

Thomas
