The Academy’s ACES team and Film Archive are currently collaborating on a Reformatting and Archiving project using ACES. This is in support of Director Marcus Dillistone’s historic film (originated on film), “The Troop”. The Reel Thing conference in Hollywood last Friday, served as a great opportunity to preview the work-in-progress thus far. You can read Debra Kaufman’s coverage of the preview here:
There’s more work to do on the final grade(s), sound mix, archival package generation, etc., but the team is driving towards completion later this year, with additional presentations tailored to filmmakers and cinematographers along the way!
