Hey @sdyer , looks like this was tagged with the wrong VWG

Recap:

  • Doc stubs for Implementation Guide and User Guides, please feel free to add thoughts - doesn’t have to be pretty, just throw things in, or send them to @carolalynn , @matthias.scharfenber or @nick to add.
  • @michaelch: reference implementation in Resolve coming soon. Right now it might only be a clip level setting, project level is more complicated.
  • Right-click context menu for the clip, it’ll be a toggle. Michael is checking whether you can select multiple clips for right-click too.
  • Group prefers a project setting, but it might come later on as it’s a bit more of a discussion to get it in project settings. Ideal place might be in Clip Inspector, but that’s also a longer road.
  • OCIO PR in last looks, please take a look if you have some time. Michael is going to ask the Fusion team about the roadmap around OCIO 2.0.
  • @jzp: in the interim before all the implementations roll out, assuming this is the scenario:
    • On for on set monitoring
    • On for dailies
    • Off for VFX pulls
    • Assumption is that some hand holding will be needed to make sure all vfx returns have it applied, baked into the exrs
    • For conform, non-vfx will get it applied
    • Rare: 2 vfx houses work on a shot, would need to figure out what would happen there
  • The point: it’s ALWAYS on - except for x, y - instead of enumerating all the phases where it’s on.
  • The inverse should technically be fine if it’s the first thing applied on a VFX pull, but you may hit edge cases from quantization due to the half-float EXR file format.
  • Possibly need a section at the end of the user guide for “things you shouldn’t do, but if you do…”
