The recording and notes from meeting #65 are now available.

Hey guys,

thanks for the meeting. It was interesting to watch and read the feedback.

Is there any way we could have somewhere on the forum (apologies if this already exists somewhere in a post) what are exactly the three candidates ?

I know you guys prefer blind testing and I totally agree with that too. But just for the record, it would be nice to have somewhere what exactly the three candidates are.

Just a brief summary like this candidate uses the hue restore algorithm from Doug and no Gamut compression… etc

So far, this is what I had written back in the day :

A = Jed Per-Channel (from this thread)
B = “Hue Restore” DRT with no Gamut compression (from this thread)
C = ZCAM DRT (from this thread)

Just a quick note that we tested the hue restore algorithm back in the day at Illum and were not completely convinced by it.

A couple of questions :

  • Which primaries did you end up using for candidate A ? Jed’s one or another set ? We discussed here the candidate A but I am not sure which model was “G” in the end. Thanks for the clarification !
  • Also is there any interest/time to look at luminanceDRT ? It was indeed looked at this meeting #63 and could it be compared against others in an OCIO Config or Nuke Setup ? It looks pretty decent out-of-the-box.

Thanks for the hard work,
Chris

PS : if you do not want any of the candidates’ information to be released on the forum to not bias testers, let me know and I will happily remove my post.

Update : added Pekka’s link and better formulated questions.

Candidate B is Potential replacement for candidate B

LuminanceDRT was looked at one of the recent meetings.

Meeting notes now posted.
